Puppy Socialisation: The Critical Window

The Socialisation Window

Between 3 and 16 weeks of age, puppies go through a critical socialisation period. Experiences during this time shape their adult personality and behaviour more than any other period in their life.

What to Expose Your Puppy To

  • Different people (ages, appearances, clothing)
  • Other dogs (vaccinated and friendly)
  • Various surfaces (grass, concrete, carpet, metal)
  • Sounds (traffic, household appliances, music)
  • Handling (feet, ears, mouth, tail)

Quality Over Quantity

It's not about how many experiences - it's about positive experiences. One scary encounter can undo many good ones. Always let your puppy approach new things at their own pace.

Puppy Classes

Our Puppy Foundation classes provide controlled, positive experiences with other puppies in a safe environment. Starting early gives your puppy the best chance of growing into a confident adult dog.
